Industrial Mastery Pathway
Silica Dust Advanced: Rail
Tier 2
Operational Overview
This course assumes you have already completed Silica Dust Advanced: Exposure Management and Compliance. That course covered the assessment methodology, the control hierarchy and health surveillance design. This one does not repeat any of it.
Here, you apply that framework to the rail sector specifically: concrete sleeper and masonry structure work, the safety authorisation structure under ROGS 2006, and the possession window constraints that shape when and how silica controls can actually be applied.

Instructional Objectives
- Apply the RCS assessment methodology to named rail infrastructure tasks including concrete sleeper cutting, masonry structure repair and ballast-related grinding.
- Reconcile water suppression and extraction controls with possession and line access constraints.
- Maintain health surveillance continuity across a multi-contractor rail workforce.
- Apply real-time dust monitoring within the access authorisation constraints of a rail environment governed by ROGS 2006.
