Dust & Fumes Advanced: Rail (Canada)

Tier 2

Operational Overview

Ballast dust, brake dust, welding fume from rail repair, grinding fume from track maintenance, and diesel exhaust from locomotives all combine to create a genuine dust and fumes risk across the rail network. Depot workshops, open track and confined spaces on rolling stock each change how that risk needs to be managed.

This course builds on your Dust & Fumes Advanced training with content specific to Canadian rail work. You'll work through the Canada Labour Code Part II and the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, understand why interprovincial rail falls under federal rather than provincial jurisdiction, and cover the practical realities of managing exposure across the network.
