Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome Advanced: Offshore Oil & Gas (Australia)
Operational Overview
Offshore facilities in Australian Commonwealth waters operate under a general duty regime. There is no single numeric rule for hand-arm vibration. Instead, the operator must take all reasonably practicable steps to keep work safe and without risk to health.
This course builds on your foundation HAVS training and applies it to the tools and tasks you encounter offshore, from needle guns to chipping hammers used during maintenance work. You will learn how exposure is actually measured and assessed under the Australian standard, and how to use that assessment to make real decisions about trigger time and controls.
The goal is practical judgement, not memorised numbers. By the end you will be able to read an exposure assessment, understand what it means for your working day, and know exactly what to do if you notice early symptoms.
