This course builds on the foundation HAVS knowledge you already hold and applies it directly to nuclear facility work. You will look at the specific maintenance tasks that drive exposure, the legal framework that actually applies when no dedicated OSHA vibration standard exists, and the practical controls that protect your hands for a full career, not just a shift.

Instructional Objectives
- Explain how hand-arm vibration syndrome develops and why it is irreversible.
- Identify the maintenance tools and tasks that generate the highest vibration exposure in a nuclear facility.
- Apply the OSHA General Duty Clause, ACGIH TLV, NIOSH and ANSI/ISO guidance that governs HAV exposure in the absence of a dedicated OSHA standard.
- Interpret the ACGIH TLV benchmark and the ANSI S2.70/ISO 5349-1 measurement method.
- Select and justify controls using the hierarchy of control for nuclear facility vibration sources.
- Understand health surveillance practices and the early signs of HAVS.
