Silica Dust Advanced: Exposure Management and Compliance — British Columbia Annex

Tier 2

Operational Overview

This annex supplements your Silica Dust Advanced training with the specific rules that apply if you work in British Columbia. WorkSafeBC sets a binding occupational exposure limit of 0.025 milligrams per cubic metre for respirable crystalline silica, applied uniformly across construction and general industry alike.

This makes BC's regime genuinely stricter in practice than Ontario's, where a construction-sector exclusion leaves a real gap. WorkSafeBC also publishes its own detailed guidance for building a defensible exposure control plan, specifically covering stone cutting, grinding and polishing work.
