Occupational Health: The Triple Threat

Tier 2

Operational Overview

You've already covered vibration, noise and dust as individual hazards. On a real site, they don't stay separate. Breaking out a section of concrete floor puts all three onto one worker, on one task, at the same time.

This course is about that overlap. Not repeating what each hazard is, but working through what happens when their controls meet, sometimes helping each other, sometimes actively fighting each other.

You'll leave able to assess a task properly across all three hazards at once, and to choose controls and protection that work together rather than against each other.

Instructional Objectives

  • Spot concurrent exposure. Recognise tasks where vibration, noise and dust are all present together.
  • Understand the frameworks together. See how UK vibration, noise and COSHH regulations apply to the same task simultaneously.
  • Resolve control conflicts. Identify where one hazard's control undermines another's, and choose the right resolution.
  • Select combined protection. Layer PPE and RPE across all three hazards without compromising fit.
  • Read combined surveillance data. Interpret a worker's exposure record across vibration, noise and dust together.
