Project Management Applications: Rail

Rail projects do not run on the same rules as most construction or infrastructure work. You cannot simply add a shift or reroute traffic around a live railway. Every metre of physical work competes for a small number of engineering possessions, every system change has to prove it will not compromise an operational safety case, and every delay becomes visible to passengers, regulators and the press in a way few other sectors experience.

This course walks through the project management disciplines that are genuinely different in rail: access-constrained planning, systems integration risk, commercial governance under pressure, and the often-underestimated testing and commissioning phase. You will work through real decision points and a case study drawn directly from one of the UK's highest-profile rail programmes.
