Operational Overview
Nuclear does not adopt new technology quickly, and AI is no exception. That caution is not resistance to progress. It is the same goal-based, safety-case culture that governs every other piece of equipment and process on a licensed site, now being applied to a genuinely new kind of tool.
The UK's nuclear regulator has been explicit: AI is subject to exactly the same regulatory principles as any other technology, no more and no less. There is no separate, lighter path for a system just because it happens to be built on machine learning.
This course looks at where AI is actually being tested in UK nuclear right now, why the safety justification bar does not move for it, and how to use these tools well when they do reach your site.
