Bylor has led civil engineering at Hinkley Point C (HPC) for over a decade, managing a peak workforce of 5,500 personnel. Transitioning this vast technical legacy to Sizewell C required a move away from the 'Logistical Bottleneck' of classroom training. We replaced manual spreadsheet tracking and administrative mountains with an automated, error-free registry that ensures every worker is validated in real-time.
the problem
For mega-projects of this scale, high-hazard training—such as Confined Spaces, ATEX, and Working at Height—traditionally requires removing teams from the tools for full-day classroom sessions. This creates a logistical bottleneck that leads to significant production loss.
The Compliance Pain-Point
Verifying the qualifications of thousands of workers often relies on manual spreadsheet tracking and human verification. This process is not only administratively intensive but prone to errors that can lead to significant project risks.

The Solution
To resolve the training bottleneck, ikigai.xr implemented a reverse-engineered learning architecture. We deconstructed the most hazardous tasks within the Tier 4 VR simulations to identify the exact technical themes required for site-readiness. We then built the preparatory course blocks to teach only those themes—eliminating information noise and ensuring 100% focus on operational mastery.
Rapid Refactoring
Utilising our proprietary Block Builder, we rapidly distil standard compliance topics into focused modules. This allows us to refactor generic courses into project-specific technical nodes in a fraction of traditional development time.
Standardised Mastery
By hardcoding quality into the platform, we eliminate the 'human variable.' Whether an operative is a new recruit or a seasoned specialist, the safety standard remains identical across the entire 5,500-strong project.

A primary success criterion for the Bylor project was ensuring the platform supported production rather than hindering it. We operate under a strict 5% Rule: if a training intervention occupies more than 5% of a worker’s time, it becomes a distraction from the project’s critical path.
The Automated Command Center
We deployed a dedicated Client Portal that retired the "spreadsheet era" at HPC. This dashboard provides admin teams with a real-time Qualification Tracker, automating the entire training lifecycle and providing a live heatmap of workforce competency with zero administrative lag.
